The Angelus is French artist Jean Francois Millet's most famous work of art. Millet painted art that projected a spirit of humility. This particular piece features a couple in the fields praying at the toll of the churchbell, rung at morning, noon, and evening as a signal to pray in mindfulness of Christ. We have been collecting The Angelus for many years. Varied renditions can be found throughout the Inn. As Bennettsville is located in an agricultural area, the scene appropriately reflects our rural community.
Window treatments & bed
coverings are french toile. A down comforter & featherbed, (guests may opt
to have removed), nestle plushly within duvets. The Angelus represents a french garden within The Garden Cottage. Colors are burgandy, ecru, black and gold. The bathroom has a clawfooted tub with shower, beaded board walls, and stained glass windows, As in the study, black & white sillouette needlework adorn the walls.
In our wonderful little town, churchbells chime every hour during daylight for all to enjoy. Our hope is that when you hear them during your stay, you, like the couple in Millet's Angelus, will be mindful of Christ, who loves us all so. A red leather recliner provides a landing spot for a good read or...a great nap! The Angelus is sophisticated and romantic. The bed is queen. $150 Single or double. Plus 11% tax. Sleeps two.
